Starting tomorrow, I'm going to be the producer for a podcast for  a local church. It's not exactly the old style podcasting that I miss doing, but it's something, and it'll get me into a regular flow so that I can get back into producing my own.I have a short short list of podcasts that I would like to make, but, unfortunately, these days, it's best to have at least one other person in your podcast, and I can't seem to get anyone else onboard. With that, I've given up on trying to encourage people to work with me, and just do the work myself, and they can join in if they really want to.While this just sounds like I don't care, I've actually found that I've gotten more done and I haven't stressed as much about things since giving up on others. I have only one rule in my world, make an effort. If you're not making an effort, then what the hell are you doing?This is exactly what I say to people when they ask me if it's possible to just sit around and do what I like and make money doing it. Yes, it is, but you have to make the effort to get there in the first place. If you're not willing to do the initial work, then you're not going to get where you want.This post was supposed to be about podcast production...The one thing that I can say, if you're looking to start a podcast, is that you cannot skimp on the equipment. If you're wanting to have an audio only or a video podcast, you're going to need to have good audio, spend the money and learn to use the equipment, and you will be rewarded in the end. If you're doing video, go with the best camera setup that your budget allows.If your audio is bad, no one will want to listen to your podcast, if your video is awful, then no one will want to watch, that's just the facts.
